Why Work With Me?

Isn’t it fascinating that ‘About Me’ sections are presented as linear, when we know that life is anything but?

For simplicity, I’ll start at the present and that is for the past 30 years I have relished a career in marketing and consumer insights.  I recently made the choice to walk away from my c-suite role as Chief Marketing Officer to realign with my personal values – Authenticity, Generosity and Freedom

With these firmly at the forefront of everything I do, I use my skills to make a difference for businesses like yours.  Where I stand today is the culmination of the non-linear path from my origin story.

My Story

Let me introduce myself, I'm Jen. I was born in Coronado, California on a chilly February 16th.  Due on Valentine’s Day, this was the first of many examples where I showed life that I was going to beat to my own drum.

As a child I was blonde and blue-eyed, shy but gregarious.  When I was three, a photographer captured me mid-air dancing, dress flapping up above my heels, to the Navy Band in Balboa Park and the picture went viral.  Viral in the 1970’s meant newspapers around the world printed the picture, winning the photographer an award.  When asked how she felt about it all, my mom said “I’m just glad she had clean underwear on that day.”  This was the beginning of my personal brand.

Over time, my hair turned brown and my eyes hazel.  I went from being Jenny to Jennifer to Jen and moved around the country every two years, setting up home wherever the Navy sent us .  While still shy, I had no choice but to adapt and continuously reinvent myself.  At the time, this wasn’t easy, but now I know I was gifted an amazing lesson in resilience.

I learned that you won’t melt by sitting alone at the lunch table.  Or that having to ask a million questions to find your way around a new place does not mean you are doomed to a life of embarrassment.  I built the truest of friendships, experienced lots of firsts, lasts and in-betweens. Most importantly, I learned that indeed, everything is solvable if you commit to the exploration.

My passion for understanding the ‘why’ behind anything fueled me academically and professionally.  During college I found my passion for insights, using data to drive creative, which then guided my career.

This combination of data and creativity never led me astray.  From optimizing retail environments in China to educating ad agencies in South America to partnering with product managers in the U.S, to empowering my own MarCom team – all had this in common.  The power of these collective experiences is what fuels me today to want to help people with whatever challenge stands between them and success.

I love spreadsheets and designing presentations.

I love the power of the written word.

I love imagery that brings insights driven products to market.

I love problem-solving and solutioning.

I love applying ingenuity.

I currently reside in the northern suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia.
